Luke-W - The Musician Behind the Photos
What first got you into music?
I originally played guitar in a band in high school where we played like Linkin Park and Blink 182, but I didn’t really have a singing voice back then haha. I got into freestyling and singing more once I left school. I decided to move to the UK for a couple years and make music and ended up living in a music studio which was a dope experience.
Who inspired you to make music?
Definitely my family. My mum was a music teacher when I was at school and my whole family love music.
How would you describe the music that you typically create?
It’s hard to say exactly what genre it is but it’s somewhere in the realm of experimental Hip-Hop and RnB with Rock and Bass Music influences.
What is your creative process like?
It varies but mostly I’ll make a beat or collaborate with my bro Andrew Meyer who I work with a lot, and then write the lyrics around that sound - either that or I’ll use something I’ve written earlier will be the right fit for the vibe.
NZ - RAIZA BIZA is one, really vibe with his music - BENEE would be awesome too, she’s super talented.
WORLDWIDE - So many. If I had to pick one it’d have to be The Weeknd.
If you could open a show for any artist who would it be?
Opening for Drake would be insane.
Where have you performed?
Neck of The Woods was my last show. Also Anthology K’Rd and a few bars in the UK.
Do you have any upcoming shows?
What is your favourite song to perform?
No Waste went off last time. Looking forward to playing some of this new music though - we’ll see - got a feeling it’ll be one of them.
Which famous musicians do you admire
I admire a ton of artists.. Jimi Hendrix is the G.O.A.T.
What is the best advice you’ve been given?
My cousins telling me to take my music seriously.
If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?
There’s a lot of sharks in the industry. Less of those.
What’s next for you?
More music releases and a project coming out later this year. Plus tryna line up as many shows as possible.
